PagePlus X6: Lost Guides

I produce a parish magazine. I prepare a Master Page with all the static items, headings, and text markers which are indicatged by guidelines.

for some reason, I have lost all my guidelines and cannot get them back.

If I try to put new guides on the page, whilst I can drag them from the margin they disappear as soon as I release them.

PagePlus X6: Changing baseline height for bullets

Some bullet characters do not look good with the same baseline height as the following text. How can I change the baseline height (ie Character Spacing:Above/Below) for a bullet character?

PagePlus X5: 'Stick em up'

I am trying to save a Page Plus document image to a USB memory stick using 'Send To' but,I get a pop up telling me that it contains properties that will not allow me to do this.
I have been back into the image in Page Plus and tried to save it into a different format but the only alternative is 'all files', where it is still tagged as a Page Plus document and the same pop up applies.
What am I doing wrong?

PagePlus X6: Protected text & good source for fonts

Hi - on the preflight check my text shows "protected" yet appears fine on the PDF. I see two different answers on a previous thread:

1. There are a few fonts that are protected and do not permit embedding. You can check to see that the fonts are embedded by opening the PDF in your PDF reader, opening the Properties dialogue (Ctrl D), and viewing the Fonts tab.

2. The "protected" tag in the font is nbot there to prevent use in print; it's there to prevent electronic redistribution.

3. (email from tech support:) The Caslon fonts that you are using are protected which is most likely the reason they are listed as unavailable in pre-flight.

If (1. is true, does that mean my text isn't imbedded and will have trouble when I send it to offset print?

DOWNLOADING TYPE
Where is a good, reliable source to download fonts that will work in PP (free would be great, will pay if necessary). I require a font not in my Windows set (Caslon italic).

I'm having a great deal of difficulty getting the Caslon OpenType font I previously downloaded to appear in PP. Apparently this is a Windows problem. I'm running XP and the patches I've found haven't worked.

PagePlus X6: Is there a way to get PP to remember printer (or Profile) last used?

When I'm printing from PP I use my non-default printer (a special color printer).

But PP defaults to my default printer every time.

I see that there are profiles, but I don't see how to change the default profile for a document for for the application.

What I've tried
  • I've tried changing the selected Profiles (and created one that uses the Color printer) but PP doesn't "remember" that. Defaults to Current Settings profile each time.
  • I've also tried saving a profile as "Current Settings", no love <g>.
  • I also read the Help file on the Print function. Didn't see anything that would help

Any suggestions?

PagePlus X5: Text Manipulation

Hi all,

Basically im using PagePlus to manipulate PDF document's, however a big problem is the text formatting.

Upon opening a PDF and changing said title's then exporting the PDF the text jumbles up and creates an eye-saw.

I know not having the correct font that was originally used within the PDF is not available to me; when I change the font of that part of the document the letter's and words again get jumbled around.

The only fix I can see to this is to copy said paragraph's/headers & then copy them into a word document which then creates abnormal spacing between letter's which then have to manually be deleted and then re-pasted back into the PDF and them jumbled around to fit correctly.

I.E

"You are required to change your password when you first login"

Turns into...

"Y o u a r e f i r s t r e q u i r e d...................."

Im assuming im missing something because have to do that to 50+ page PDF document would be extremely time consuming.

Any help would be appreciated.

PagePlus X6: White background colour when published in JPEG

When I create a page and want to publish in JPEG to my computer, the background colour of my page is white, even though I filled it in green. Does anyone know why is that?

PagePlus X6: PDF Booklet printing bug (?)

Hi,

I've encountered a problem getting some but not all files to print duplex properly as a "Booklet".

I'm generally using PDF's created with InDesign or even Coral Draw originally, bringing them up to date, and then saving them as a new PDF.

PagePlus has no real issues opening the PDF files. I can save the PDF files, view them, print them etc fine apart from the following issue, which I cannot find a reason behind - it doesn't happen to every file.

Say I have a 14 page document . I have added 2 pages for a total count of 16, to make the outside cover consistent after revamping the document design.

After adding these 2 pages (in testing I have left them blank or added actual content) and saving the file, I've loaded it into Adobe Acrobat to print using duplex as a booklet, i.e. one actual sheet of paper has 2 document pages printed to each side.

When this works it works great, but when it doesn't work, and I can see this only in Adobe Acrobat's print preview, the whole document page order gets screwed up.

Example behaviour includes ignoring the first document page, the last document page ends up as page 3, and so on.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

PagePlus X6: multiple publication comparison

Can an expert tell me how I can load two saved publications side by side in X6 for comparison and copy and paste purposes or is there a way of loading two sessions of X6 simultaneously?

I can do this in Word which is very valuable when looking for slight differences in the text, layout etc.

Problem publishing PDF

Hello,

I've just tried installing Page Plus 5 on my new laptop.

When I try to "Publish PDF", a screen comes up saying:

"Nitro Pro - End User Licence Agreement" asking me to accept the terms and conditions. When I click "Accept" it then says "The service does not have sufficient privileges. Please reinstall".

I have tried reinstalling and also disabling Norton Anti Virus but I get the same error.

Could you please advise how I can fix this?

PagePlus X6: Removing Mail Merge

I've set up a mail merge to insert names into a certificate. They all printed fine but now need to print a few more with new names which I will add manually. Question is, how do I actually remove the mail merge field? There doesn't seem to be the option anywhere and simply deleting the text doesn't get rid of it.

PagePlus X6: Introducing Myself

Hello everyone,

I purchased PagePlusX6 a couple of months ago, and have been getting great value from reading the posts in this forum. Thank you!

I now have some specific questions I would like help with, so thought it was time to introduce myself and explain a bit about what I use the software for.

I publish an iPad magazine on the Apple Newstand. Issues one and two were designed by a professional graphic designer in Adobe InDesign. I have those two issues in PDF format and wish to use them as starting points to do my own layout for future issues.

So most of my questions will be about editing a PDF file.

I've done a bit of editing so far and really enjoyed how the software is performing. I have been having trouble with some things, however, mostly to do with editing titles and text (the fonts go wonky and sometimes the text disappears altogether).

I realize that description of my problem is not very specific, so I will post some specific questions under another thread.

Which colour type should I use when i work? RGB or CMYK? Because when i print for example a page in green, it comes out a competely different green. Do you know why is that?

PagePlus X6: loss of data on backup?

I have recently switched to Windows 8 from Windows XP. I had all my PPP files backed up on a removable drive. Now, after reinstalling PPx6 on the new system, all the PPP files seem to have disappeared from the drive! All other files (images, documents etc) are there, and the program works normally. Only the actual PPP files are missing.

Am I doing something wrong or is this a known error?

PagePlus X5: Will only print single copies.

I have been printing an A4 folded 7 page booklet for years using Page Plus - all versions up to X5.
The finished product is a 28 page A5 centre stapled programme.
I use two printers in different locations - to make the proof it is printed on an HP Laserjet 1200 manually duplexing, on a Windows XP system.
The print run is done on an HP Laserjet 1320 with auto duplex, this system has just been upgraded to Windows 8.
The problem is that on this system using Page Plus X3 it will only print single copies even if I selected 10, 20, 30 or whatever. I upgraded from X3 to X5 hoping this would solve the problem but it is the same.

Any ideas anyone please?

PagePlus X6: Template Collections

Hello everyone,

I don't know if we're allowed to offer items for sale on these forums, but I figured I'd ask if it was allowed. I have PagePlus template collections and various other image software, textures and overlays, etc. that were sent to me in addition to other Serif software I actually ordered. I already have some of the templates and the others I will never use. They haven't been installed on my computer...they've been collecting dust on my shelf. Are we allowed to offer them for sale here on the forums? I already put some other non-Serif software (that Serif sold me) on ebay. But I don't think these are worth listing there. I don't know what else do do with them. I spent a lot of money on the software I bought along with it...so I don't want to just donate them...I'd like to get a little something for them. Any advice would be appreciated.
